Monday Morning Museum: Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot

Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot – Sunday 17 July 1796 Paris, France to Monday 22 February 1875 Paris, France

French Realist Painter

Though it may actually be a nymphaeum, this painting of the ruin by Corot – Temple of Minerva Medica, Rome, March 1826 – is not diminished by giving the subject of the work its commonly know name.

Last Monday’s Artist – Jacob van Strij
Next Monday’s Artist – George Wesley Bellows
