Monday Morning Museum: John Frederick Kensett

John Frederick Kensett – Friday 22 March 1816 Cheshire, Connecticut to Saturday 14 December 1872 New York, New York

American Hudson River School Painter

I like this landscape by Kensett – Wooded Interior, date unknown – because it reminds me of hiking in the woods back in New England. And who knows, since Kensett painted in New England as well as New York, the painting may be of a place in which I’ve wandered.

Last Monday’s Artist – George Wesley Bellows
Next Monday’s Artist – Lucas Cranach the Elder
